Description of Elective Experience

We are a mixed animal practice that does any domestic species including dogs, cats, dairy, beef, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, swine, and horses. Time will be spent doing 60% small animal appointments and surgeries. The other 40% of the students time will be spent going on large animal calls performing herd health checks, castrations, dehorning, vaccinations, hoof trimming, examinations, surgeries, and any other service needed to be performed.

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student is expected to be at the clinic promptly on time 6 days a week for a total of 60 hours a week. The student will help with appointments and surgeries, along with any other task the student feels comfortable performing.
