Our elective experience gives students a hands-on look at a busy, family-run small animal practice right here in Boca Raton. You'll get to see everything from routine wellness exams to complex surgeries not normally done by regular DVMs, we do a wide range of soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery. We pride ourselves on providing highly personalized veterinary services to our community.Melissa will get a unique perspective on both specialized surgical care and the day-to-day operations of running a family veterinary business.
At our hospital, we do an incredible amount of surgeries weekly, many different emergency cases and orthopedic cases. We utilize a Vetscalpel Surgical Laser, and a Summus Laser Therapy laser. We also have an electrocauterizer and Melissa will gain tons of experience working with our team.
We expect students to be eager, ready to learn, and willing to jump in. You'll be doing a mix of shadowing and actual hands-on support, depending on your comfort level and experience. We want you to really get a feel for the work! Hours and days follow our typical clinic schedule and is on dependent on Melissa's availability, but we can be somewhat flexible. Just show up with a good attitude, a love for animals, and a desire to help our patients and their families.
