The Behavior Clinic (Olmsted Falls, OH)

Students will shadow veterinary behavioral consultations involving canine & feline patients and potentially equine and avian patients. Hands-on experience may be provided depending on the qualifications of the student under the direct guidance of the Boarded Veterinary Behaviorist (on a case-by-case basis).  Students will be observing and interacting with a Boarded Veterinary Behaviorist, ACVB Resident(s), Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Technician Specialists in Behavior and Trainers (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partners) during appointments.

• National and International speaker
• Educator of ACVB Residents at the Equine & Farm Animal Course
• Mentor to multiple ACVB Residents

• Hours: M, T, W, Th: 8:30am-5:30pm, F 8:30-1pm
• Shadowing in Consultations of veterinary behavior patients
• Shadowing in Behavior Therapy Appointments with veterinary behavior patients
• Shadowing at the Pet Education Center in Behavior Therapy Appointments, Privates and Public Classes
• Appointments occur in-person and via telehealth weekly
• Assisting in consult room change over / set up for cases and opening/closing of the practice
• Taking case notes for active discussion after consults
• 1-2 Handouts (topics chosen by student and Dr. Feltes) are due by the end of the Elective as part of the Evaluation
• Training time is possible with a dog, cat, goat or horse
• Students are strongly encouraged to attend puppy socialization classes, our puppy classes and training classes scheduled during their externship
