Description of Elective Experience

We are a small animal veterinary clinic in Baltimore, Ohio that values accessibility to care and supports a wide range of clientele.

Students will be following the doctors in exam rooms and be given the opportunity to take the lead during exams. they can develop their own diagnostic and treatment plan with the input of the veterinarian they are working with. 

Students will be assisting with surgical procedures ( spays, neuters, enterotomies, cystotomies, amputations, enucleations, mass removals, etc.)  Students can perform surgeries under supervision of the DVM as time allows.

Students can perform blood draws, place IV catheters and perform cytology.

Students can perform dental cleaning and extractions under doctor supervision. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

4 veterinarians on duty as well as trained staff

Open clinic walk-in hours as well as scheduled appointments

Digital radiographs, In-house blood machines, and Microscopy for cytology

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students are expected to work 40 hours per week.  We have open clinic hours, appointments and surgeries daily including Saturdays. 

We recommend that students wear clean scrubs, and pack a lunch each day

Students will have support of doctors and staff , and are encouraged to ask questions while with us.
