The Arizona Spay and Neuter Clinic, AZ

Gain valuable hands-on experience through our Scottsdale Spay and Neuter Clinic externships. This opportunity allows students to refine their surgical skills, assist with anesthetic monitoring, and actively participate in patient care from intake to recovery. Externs will also practice writing SOAPs and deepen their understanding of community-based population control efforts.

Welcome to Your Externship!
We’re excited to have you join us for this immersive clinical experience! This is a fantastic opportunity to sharpen your skills, work alongside experienced doctors, and truly dive into the day-to-day of hospital life.

What to Expect:
The externship consists of 4-5 shifts a week (Monday–Friday), where you’ll be part of a fast-paced and supportive team. To make the most of your time here:

• Arrive early – We recommend getting here 10 minutes before your shift to settle in and be ready to hit the ground running.
• Dress the part – Please wear scrubs appropriate for a hospital setting, and bring a coat in case the clinic gets chilly.
• Stay engaged – You’ll get the most out of this experience by asking questions, jumping into cases, and being curious. This is your chance to learn hands-on , and we’re here to support your growth.

Breaks & Policies:
While many of our Surgery doctors work through lunch (since they don’t have set break times), you’re welcome to take a lunch break, in accordance with SAVMA guidelines. If you need time to rest or refocus, just let your doctor or a staff member know.
