The student will be involved in one on one assignment with a surgeon who will be performing complex orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Duties will involve both clinical outpatient and operating room activities.
Our practice consists of seven board-certified surgeons, four surgical interns, and one internal medicine specialist. We are fully staffed with licensed technicians, technician assistants, and overnight ICU staff. Our hospital is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, thermal imaging, shockwave, PRP, stat-read cytology service, arthroscopic, and laparoscopic equipment. We have full orthopedic and soft tissue instrumentation, including that required for minimally invasive surgery.
Students will start their day at 7AM to evaluate patients, and then starting at 8AM admission of surgical patients to the hospital on surgery days. Monday through Thursday is a combination of surgery and outpatient services with Friday being outpatient a majority of the time. Surgery days versus outpatient days vary between the surgeons. Rotations will be from Monday through Friday with weekends off. There are no on-call duties. The student will be paired with a surgeon. The student will be assisting the surgeon in surgery and may close surgical incisions.
