Description of Elective Experience

Scheduled alongside doctors who provide mentorship and education in the area of focus (GP vs ER) during their rotation.

AMC is a 24/7 ER with GP appointments and surgery with complex and general dentistry.

Experiences: full in-house lab, digital radiography, in-house ultrasound/echo tech, critical care, 24-hour ICU, general/emergency/ortho surgery, blood transfusions, client education, estimate building, Smartflow whiteboards, etc.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Depending on the student's year in vet school, they may be expected to contribute to patient exams, diagnostic interpretation, surgery assistance, ICU treatment plan interpretations and adjustments in care.

Shifts range from 8 hours to 12 hours 7 days a week.
