Description of Elective Experience

Following DVM on appointments and procedures. Student will get hands on learning as well based on their current experience/skill set and DVM comfort level. We hope for her to gain experience suturing , doing basic wound care, interpreting lab work and radiographs, using ultrasound, assisting in surgery, suturing and possibly some emergency procedures such as handling U/O cats, performing chest or abdominal taps.

2 FT DVMs, 1 PT DVm, 4 technicians, 4 Vet assistants, 2 CSR, 1 Practice manager, Doppler Blood pressure, Bionet anesthetic monitoring, Ophthalmoscope, tonopen, mobile ultrasound, digital radiology, Oxygen tent, 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

4-5 days/week, 35-40 hours, Sunday-Thursday

Shadowing DVM and supporting with medical documentation, she will also get to go hands-on learning. If she wishes she can also shadow technicians and refine her technical skills.
