Animal Hospital of Waynesville (Waynesville, NC)

Description of Elective Experience

The Animal Hospital of Waynesville is a full-service small animal practice aligned with AAHA standards of care. Our team places a strong emphasis on fear free handling techniques to minimize anxiety and deliver compassionate, patient-centered veterinary care. We see about 200 appointments per week. Externs will actively participate in outpatient consultations, preventive care wellness exams, surgical prep, monitoring, and diagnostic case workups alongside attending veterinarians. Responsibilities include recording clinical notes in Avimark, performing physical examinations, assisting with diagnostic sample collection, and applying low-stress handling protocols during patient evaluations.
