Animal Clinic of Oxford, MS

Description of Elective Experience

We are a busy five doctor practice doing primarily small animal medicine. Dr Payne has a very large practice of canine reproduction. Oxford is a fantastic college town and a great place to visit. We have a wide variety of clients since we also service a wide rural area surrounding Oxford. We allow students to help with spays and neuters from our  local shelter, have them help in the exam rooms to observe DVM/client interaction, scrub in on all major surgeries, and if they are interested in theriogenology, they can see a wide variety of cases there also.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students typically work from 9-6 Monday through Friday with a lunch break. We are open from 8-12 on Saturdays and students are welcome to come in then but not required. We also take emergency call and if a fun emergency comes in, we will call the student and see if they want to come help.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

We are part of Mission Veterinary Partners and they usually will provide a stipend to help with housing cost.
