Description of Elective Experience

Student will be offered the opportunity to participate in the scheduled appointments. They will be able to review pertinent medical records, perform physical examinations, and have an active participatory role in discussing the patient’s diagnostic evaluation and treatment plan.  The student will be permitted to join the supervising clinician during appointments to observe conversations with clients. They will be actively engaged in the cases and communication with the clients. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We are staffed with both a medical oncologist as well as a board certified surgical oncologist.  We perform CT scans, administer chemotherapy and radiation therapy and perform surgeries in an average week.   

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Shadowing, as well as supporting the staff in some of the various therapies we provide here.  Hours are typically Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, with exception.
