Description of Elective Experience

Referral only veterinary behavioral medicine practice. Located outside of Washington DC and sees 2000 new patients per year.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

One boarded VB, one clinical behavior resident. 3 veterinary nurses (one is VTS-behavior), 3 licensed dog trainers. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Mon-Fri approx 40 hours per week with optional Saturday opportunities including group training classes. Shadowing only for the most part due to aggression cases, but involvement as deemed appropriate in cases. Students are also required to become Fear Free certified while on the rotation (if not already- free to students) and create a client oriented handout on a behavior topic of their choice.
