The Advanced Veterinary Care Center (AVCC) in Davie, Florida offers qualified 3rd and 4th year veterinary students a 2 week small animal externship in small animal specialty and emergency/critical care medicine and surgery. The successful applicant can choose from externships in internal medicine, surgery, oncology, or emergency/critical or they can rotate through some or all of the clinical services based on their individual interests. Externs will work with a team of specialists and experienced emergency doctors and will participate in all aspects of our busy clinical practice.
Successful applicants will provide a letter of application with emphasis on specific interest(s) (e.g. internal medicine, surgery, etc.) and at least one letter of reference. Covid vaccination is required.
Travel and lodging are the responsibility of the extern but some assistance may be available.
Fully staffed and modern 24/7 referral and emergency hospital (opened 2018) with 5 boarded specialists in internal medicine, surgery, and oncology. Also a large team of experienced ER doctors and critical care specialists. large diverse caseload in good community 20 minutes from Ft Lauderdale Beach.
Externs will participate in all aspects of our clinical practice.
